Advancing and Sharing Land Stewardship Strategies
Stewardship has the power to make people agents of positive change within their environment. At Pepperwood, we believe in the importance of stewardship for building community and enhancing our collective connection to the natural world. Our stewardship initiatives are backed by scientific research. By continuously monitoring the health of our ecosystems through our research, we can adapt our stewardship approaches to respond effectively to changing climate conditions and other factors.
One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is engaging the community through various opportunities such as Volunteer Workdays, Learn and Burn Days, and seasonal stewardship workshops. No matter where you are on your stewardship journey, we are here to support you and invite you to participate in this fulfilling work, enabling you to make a positive impact in your own backyard.

Tend the Land With Us
If you're longing for a way to give back to the land, Pepperwood is a good place to find the knowledge and practical hands-on experience you need to get started.
VOLUNTEER WORKDAYS
On the first Saturday of each month (except holidays), Pepperwood's stewardship team hosts community events to kickstart your stewardship journey. Strengthen your connection to the land and community by attending regularly. Everyone is welcome, and we accommodate any special needs.
WORKSHOPS
These workshops provide a comprehensive experience that combines learning and hands-on practice. We typically offer several workshops in the spring and fall. The topics vary by season but generally focus on learning how to live in and care for a fire-adapted landscape.
LEARN & BURN DAYS
This fire stewardship workshop teaches good fire practices for managing our fire-adapted landscape. Held on the first and third Thursdays and the second Saturday of each month from November to March, these full-day events offer hands-on experience in a safe environment.
