Learn and Burn (LAB) Days at Pepperwood
LAB Days are regularly scheduled events that provide local community members with opportunities to learn about and safely use fire as a stewardship tool. Despite the increasing use of intentional fire in our community, there remains a need to offer hands-on experiences in a safe learning environment. During a LAB Day, participants can learn from experienced fire practitioners while actively engaging in fire management. This shared learning experience allows everyone to gain practical skills in stewarding land with fire.
LAB Days take place on the 3rd Thursdays and the 2nd Saturday of each month from November to March. Daily activities vary according to the weather and climate of that day. Registered participants receive information about the day's activities closer to the event date. LAB Days are a collaboration between Pepperwood and the local prescribed burn association, the Good Fire Alliance.

What Participants Can Expect
What
Gain hands-on experience with fire in the greater North Bay area. Potential activities include broadcast burning, jackpot burning, pile burning, pile burn restoration, native grass restoration, fire ecology, hikes, and talks. The activity selection varies based on the weather and other environmental conditions. This means we may not be putting fire on the ground every LAB Day, but there will be a meaningful activity that provides a learning experience around fire and ecology.
Where
Pepperwood's preserve (located at 2130 Pepperwood Preserve Rd. Santa Rosa, CA) is the primary location for these events; however other locations may be utilized as opportunities arise.
When
Every 1st and 3rd Thursdays and 2nd Saturdays from November through March.
