Over 200 supporters attended Pepperwood’s second Sunset Celebration, hosted by its board of directors, on May 13, 2017. The event honored Pepperwood board member Paul Downey for his outstanding service and featured keynote speeches by Pepperwood's CEO Dr. Lisa Micheli, UC Berkeley’s Biology Dean Dr. David Ackerly and Pepperwood's Preserve Ecologist Michelle Halbur. 90% of attendees participated in the Fund-a-Need paddle raise which included a surprise $100,000 gift by JP Conte to launch the Conte Scientific Fund. In total, enthusiastic donors contributed over $425,000 to mobilize Pepperwood’s conservation science for the health of Northern California’s land, water and wildlife.
