Michaela Mackenzie

(707) 591-9310

Michaela grew up playing among the big stands of coyote brush, chamise and matilija poppies in San Diego. In 2011, they traded the warmth of desert for the crisp fog of San Francisco, where they studied applied environmental anthropology at SF State. After receiving their BA, Michaela worked at several regenerative farms up and down the California coast. Serendipitously, Michaela was introduced to nature-based education while working at a farm that offered youth-led programming. From there, they went on to work in the field of environmental education for over eight years. In 2019, Michaela landed among the oaks of Sonoma County and has resided here ever since. Michaela was first introduced to Pepperwood while studying natural resource management at SRJC. As they transition into an operations role, they are looking forward to learning how to best support the Pepperwood community and its work. In their free time, Michaela dabbles in gardening, painting, and climbing.
