Margaret dedicated her career to inspiring youth and community members to appreciate the natural world and become stewards of the environment. She joined Pepperwood in 2008, where she initiated the popular SCENIQ (Students Conducting Environmental Inquiry) program for elementary school students. After fifteen years with the organization, she advanced to the role of Executive Director.

Her journey began as a field biologist, where she studied endangered birds, bears, and other wildlife across regions including Oregon, California, Alaska, New Zealand, and Midway Island. Over time, her focus shifted to environmental education. She worked as a curriculum specialist and educator at institutions such as the San Diego Zoo and the California Academy of Sciences. With her extensive experience as a field biologist and her degrees in Wildlife Biology and Science Education, she is passionate about enhancing Pepperwood’s scientific initiatives while continuing to expand environmental education outreach programs.

Margaret holds a B.S. in Wildlife Biology, a B.S. in Psychology, and an M.S. in Science Education. She is also a certified instructor for the California Naturalist and Climate Stewards programs at the University of California.
