Artist: Marguerite Elliot
Dates featured: Seasonal
Location: in front of the Dwight Center for Conservation Science
Seasonal exhibitions like Marguerite Elliot’s Medusa Trees sculptures, located outside the Dwight Center for Conservation Science, create a bridge to nature through art and reflection.
Marguerite has been working on these geometric, tower-like “tree” sculptures for a long time at Pepperwood. The power of trees as living, communicating, sheltering beings, was something that she wanted to communicate artistically in a more organic way. She incorporates golden bird nests to express the preciousness of life sheltered in trees. For her, an essential element to tree life is their togetherness, their community, as well as their interdependence, and this way of living benefits all living beings.
