During this workshop you will learn some of the essential skills for wilderness survival. This is a great class for anyone who is interested in spending time outdoors, hiking, exploring, or camping. You will learn from one of our Environmental Educators about constructing a shelter, building a fire,  and transporting an injured person. After this class, you will be more prepared and confident for your future outdoor adventures!

All materials will be provided, and no outdoor or wilderness experience is necessary.

Ease of access/hike level: This event includes a slow-paced hike of moderate difficulty, covering up to 2 miles over varied  and uneven terrain. Participants will be asked to carry another participant with the help of others. Bathrooms and water are available at the meeting location.

What to bring: Snacks and water. Wear layered clothing appropriate for the weather, long pants, and sturdy closed-toe footwear for the outdoors.

Weather & Cancellations: This event will go on in light rain. However, it could be canceled in the case of heavy storms, unhealthy air quality or other unforeseen circumstances. In the case of cancellation, registrants will be notified via email.

Though we love dogs, pets are not allowed on the reserve. When visiting Pepperwood, please leave pets at home for their wellbeing and that of our wildlife. Thank you.

Please, no smoking at Pepperwood.
