Saturday, June 5, 2021, 9am – 12pm
We need your help with critical post-fuels reduction restoration work at Pepperwood! Specifically, for this workday we’ll be collecting native grass seeds for propagation in our greenhouse. Spend some time outside, meet fellow nature-lovers, and make a lasting difference in the health of our habitats.
8:30-9:00am – Refreshments
9:00-12:00pm – Workday activity
12:00-1:00pm – Lunch provided
Please bring sturdy boots, a mask, a hat, and a water bottle. Pepperwood will provide tools, work gloves and a delicious lunch!
A note on the photo above: The grass seeds we collect in the field during this workday are then propagated by Sonja (read her blog here) in our greenhouse. Next spring, after we’ve done some prescribed pile burning after our fuels reduction (forest thinning) work, we plant the now mature grass plugs in the burned areas like you see above. You can be part of every piece of this process as a volunteer. Isn’t it great to know that your service today, will contribute to the future health of this landscape?
