Teacher Workshop with Cornell Lab of Ornithology

Teacher Workshop with Cornell Lab of Ornithology: Focus on Citizen Science and Birding

Saturday, June 9th at 9am through Sunday, June 10th at 3pm

Meet at the Dwight Center
$20 per person

Join us for this two-day citizen science workshop with a focus on birds, hosted by Cornell Ornithologists and Pepperwood. Ideal for 3th-8th grade classroom teachers, this fun, hands-on training will help you build your skills both in and out of the classroom. Learn about implementing citizen science in your classroom, teaching outdoors, bird migration and reproduction, and gardening to enhance habitats. You’ll also develop the ideas, skills, and confidence to use citizen science and bird ecology as teaching tools in your own school garden! Educators who complete the workshop will receive a copy of the Cornell Habitat Connections curriculum kit.

The weekend will be spent both in a classroom setting at Pepperwood’s Dwight Center for Conservation Science and in the field observing wildlife and hiking. Dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday are included. Overnight accommodations at the Bechtel House in a bunk or in a tent are also included.
