Meet at the Barn

Native grasslands are one of the most endangered ecosystems in California. Come explore the diverse and scenic grasslands at Pepperwood, located in the heart of the Mayacamas Mountain range in eastern Sonoma County.  Learn about Pepperwood’s extensive land stewardship and research programs while observing how the landscape has recovered from two wildfires in 2017 and 2019.

Pepperwood staff will highlight our conservation grazing program; prescribed burning, restoration and invasive species management activities; and discuss how our annual grassland monitoring program has helped us adapt to changing climate and drought conditions.

Please bring your lunch and water, and sun protection. Sturdy shoes and long pants recommended.

Ease of Access/Hike Level: This event will include walking short distances off-trail on uneven and hilly terrain to reach demonstration sites. We will carpool to get to the demonstration sites around the reserve.

Weather & Cancellations: This event will go on in light rain. However, it could be canceled in the case of heavy storms, unhealthy air quality or other unforeseen circumstances. In the case of cancellation, registrants will be notified via email.

Though we love dogs, pets are not allowed on the reserve. When visiting Pepperwood, please leave pets at home for their wellbeing and that of our wildlife. Thank you.

Please, no smoking at Pepperwood.

COVID Protocols: Masks are not required. Please practice good health hygiene.  If you do not feel well, please do not attend.
