Native grasslands are one of the most endangered ecosystems in California. Come explore the diverse and scenic grasslands at Pepperwood, located in the heart of the Mayacamas Mountain range in eastern Sonoma County. Learn about Pepperwood’s extensive land stewardship and research programs while observing how the landscape has recovered from two wildfires in 2017 and 2019. Pepperwood staff will highlight our conservation grazing program; prescribed burning, restoration and invasive species management activities; and discuss how our annual grassland monitoring program has helped us adapt to changing climate and drought conditions.

This event will include walking short distances off-trail on uneven and hilly terrain to reach demonstration sites. We will carpool to get to the demonstration sites around the reserve, please be prepared to wear a mask while in shared vehicles. Please bring your lunch and water.

The event will be held in the event of light rain, though heavy storms will cancel. In the case of a weather cancellation, registered participants will be notified via email at least one day in advance, and refunds will be offered.

COVID Protocols: All events will follow current regional health safety guidelines. Masks may be recommended while indoors or in shared vehicles. Please practice good hand washing hygiene, and physical distancing when possible. If you do not feel well, please do not attend.
