Immerse yourself in art and nature in this weekend journaling retreat with John Muir (Jack) Laws, author and illustrator of several books including The Laws Pockets Guide Set to the San Francisco Bay Area, Laws Field Guide to the Sierra Nevada and The Laws Guide to Drawing Birds. Keeping a nature journal that encourages discovery and curiosity is the most effective way to train yourself to be a naturalist. Learn to quickly draw what you see so that the journal becomes a tool to help you observe more deeply. Explore observation and curiosity-enhancing exercises while refining your drawing and writing skills. This workshop will give you a rich toolbox of nature study techniques for you to journal your way into summer.
Naturalist, educator, and artist Jack Laws delights in exploring the natural world and sharing this love with others. Jack has worked as an environmental educator for over 25 years in California, Alaska, and Wyoming. Founder of the Bay Area Nature Journal Club, Jack is a trained wildlife biologist and a fellow of the California Academy of Sciences. Participants are invited to stay at the Bechtel House or under the stars.
Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast are included.
