Have you ever wondered about the multitude of boulders that can be seen in the local landscape? How did they get here? What about other landforms?
From the unique topography of the Coast Ranges to the soils and plants that thrive here, the features we see all around us are controlled by geology. Learn the basic concepts of geology, earth history, the rock cycle, and how Pepperwood is representative of our region with lecture and outdoor exploration led by Rebecca Perlroth, geology instructor at the Santa Rosa Junior College.
Rebecca earned her BS in Geology from Tulane University, and her MS from UCLA. She has spent the past twenty years studying the geology of California, the last ten focused on Sonoma County and the Coast Ranges.
