Painting through the Seasons – Spring

Saturday, April 2, 2022
9:00am – 1:00pm

$40 per person ($35 for Friends of Pepperwood)
Ages 16 and up welcome
Meet at the Bechtel House

In this unique painting workshop series, you are invited to Pepperwood to witness the diverse beauty of all four seasons, capturing the dynamic Sonoma County landscape on your canvas. Spend one inspiring day each season this year painting on location in the midst of the iconic scenery of the Mayacamas Mountains with Santa Rosa Junior College instructor Marsha Connell. Engage your senses to connect with the landscape through each of its distinct annual phases: magically misty verdant winter, vibrant spring bursting with blooms, warm sunlit summer, and the golden foliage of fall. Join us for one session, or sign up for all four to take a journey through the seasons with your painting this year. Beginning painters will learn the basics of working in the field. Experienced painters will practice and expand your repertoire. Marsha will provide demonstrations in oil and pastel, but you may paint in any medium you choose. Marsha is also practiced in watercolor and acrylic. Enjoy support for finding your own painting voice to express the spirit of this special place.

Bring your desired painting medium – there are no required art supplies, however a suggested supplies list will be emailed to you for your reference. We will be outdoors for the duration, so come prepared for the weather with layered clothing and sun protection.

Marsha ConnelI lives in northern California, and has taught art at Santa Rosa Junior College for many years. She earned degrees in Fine Arts from Skidmore College and Sculpture from San Francisco State University. Marsha’s art has been shown regionally and internationally, and is in private, corporate and healthcare collections. Each October, she opens her studio to the public each October during ARTrails Open Studios, and by appointment year-round. Marsha has taught landscape painting workshops with Pepperwood for years, and is happy to return to the land to teach through the seasons this year.

All events will align with the current regional health guidelines. For this event, we request that all participants be prepared to show proof of covid vaccination. In case of cancellation due to weather or other circumstances, refunds will be offered.
