Meet at the Dwight Center

Nature Together is our series of events designed specifically for families with children.

Embark on a geology adventure with the Pepperwood staff! We will begin at the Dwight Center by examining Pepperwood’s rock collections under lenses and microscopes, with optional arts and crafts projectsin the background. Then, we will set out on a 2-mile walk across ancient “lava” to observe the remnants of a volcano, and along the way we will search for fascinating rock specimens.

You are welcome to bring your lunch to eat at our courtyard picnic tables at the end of the hike.

Ease of Access/Hike level: Bathrooms and water are available at the meeting place, but not during the hike. This event also includes a walk of up to 2 miles of easy to moderate hiking level. This includes traveling over varied terrain and uneven surfaces with some steep inclines, & climbing steps. Backpacks and child carriers are welcome on the walk, but no strollers please.

Weather & Cancellations: This event will go on in light rain. However, it could be canceled in the case of heavy storms, unhealthy air quality or other unforeseen circumstances. In the case of cancellation, registrants will be notified via email.
