Quercus agrifolia: An Exhibition of Northern California Landscapes

by distinguished Bay Area artist Jim Caldwell

Thursday, March 26, 2020
6:30pm – 8:00pm

Exclusively for Pepperwood Members

Pepperwood is proud to present the work of distinguished Bay Area landscape painter, Jim Caldwell. The exhibit will run from March 26 through May 15, 2020 at the Pepperwood Gallery. At the opening reception, gather for remarks by our Cultural Resources Coordinator, Ben Benson, followed by comments from the artist. Enjoy wine and dessert as you take in the preserve’s oaks and golden hills, that have been the inspiration for many of Caldwell’s landscapes.

Born in New York, Jim Caldwell attended Williams College, studied at L’École des Beaux Arts in Paris, and then earned his architecture degree at Yale. He has spent most of his life in the Bay Area, dividing his time between painting and residential architectural design at his studio in Woodside. Caldwell’s paintings, which have been described as “realistic impressionism,” are featured in more than 450 private collections and have been highlighted in over 40 solo exhibitions and 30 group shows worldwide. Caldwell teaches painting and drawing in the South Bay and has published two books of his work: “The Golden Coast: From Big Sur to Russian River,” and “The Golden Coast: Landscapes at the Edge of the Continent.” Samples of his work can be seen at http://www.jimcaldwellart.com/.
