Ages 13 and up welcome
Explore Pepperwood’s early autumn character through plein air painting with artist and Santa Rosa Junior College art professor Marsha Connell. Marsha’s approach to landscape painting investigates the spirit of place and evokes the mood of the inner landscape. Your naturalist and artist observational skills deepen as you search for the colors, shapes, textures, patterns and kinesthetic gestures to express this moment, this season and this place. We will examine the micro and the macro, and see how they may echo each other. A welcome is extended to beginning painters, who will learn basics of working in the field, and experienced painters, who may expand their repertoire and enjoy support for finding their own voice.
Marsha’s other teaching venues have included Sonoma State University and diverse programs in the US, Mexico and France. Demonstrations will be given in drawing, oil and pastel, but students may use a minimal set of materials in any media of their choice. A suggested list will be sent upon registration.
