Exploring our Environment with Watercolors

All ages welcome
Meet at the Bechtel House

Connect with the beauty of the natural world at Pepperwood while recreating the wondrous details of our preserve’s habitats in watercolor mediums – watercolor paints and/or watercolor pencils. We will start the morning with a walking meditation, to center ourselves and develop a sense of place in the environment which will be our muse for the day. Following our walk, our instructor Adriane Hatkoff will lead a painting technique demonstration focusing on experiential and expressive styles. The remainder of the workshop will be dedicated to individual work, with Adriane providing direct one-on-one instruction and support. All levels are welcome, from beginners to experienced artists. Bring your own supplies – a suggested supply list will be sent to attendees prior to the workshop.

Adriane Hatkoff has been an artist most of her adult life having studied and freelanced as a textile designer and prior to that was a children’s book illustrator and designer for J. P. Lippincott Publishers in New York City. For the last 30 years Adriane has been a fine artist mostly using watercolors and showing and selling in galleries throughout California. As much as she loves creating, especially with watercolors, Adriane’s deep passion has also taken her to teaching to students with varied experience or having none. She teaches drawing and painting regularly for the adults program at Santa Rosa Junior College. The use of light and shadow totally engages her creations in land and seascapes, human & animal portraits, still lifes, and architecture.
