Who goes hoot in the night? Who might we find fluttering around the porch light? During this family-friendly evening adventure, join Pepperwood staff to learn about some of the local creatures who are active at dusk and nighttime. We will start with a few activities to spark our curiosity and introduce some of the cast of night characters, then we will watch the sunset as we embark on a nature walk in the dark to listen and look for signs of wildlife. We will search for fascinating bats, moths, owls, scorpions, and more – and get to know them through stories and observation. Along the way, we can also enjoy the beauty of the evening sky.
Ease of access/hike level: This event will include an easy to moderate walk of less than 1.5 miles at a slow pace. Wearable baby carriers/backpacks are welcome, but no strollers please.
Weather & Cancellations: This event will go on in light rain. However, it could be canceled in the case of heavy storms, unhealthy air quality or other unforeseen circumstances. In the case of cancellation, registrants will be notified via email.
Though we love dogs, pets are not allowed on the reserve. When visiting Pepperwood, please leave pets at home for their wellbeing and that of our wildlife. Thank you.
Please, no smoking at Pepperwood.
COVID Protocols: All events will follow current regional health safety guidelines. Please practice good health hygiene, and physical distancing when possible. If you do not feel well, please do not attend.
