Meet at the Dwight Center
California is home to more species of plants and animals that are only found here, and more species overall, than any other state in the US! Join us in celebrating the incredible biodiversity of our state with a “bioblitz” – an effort to find and identify as many species as we can while we enjoy a walk through the grasslands and woodlands of Pepperwood. We will be using iNaturalist to document our observations, adding to a robust set of data which conservation leaders can use to better understand and protect the living things in our incredible state!
We recommend that each household participating in this bioblitz has an iNaturalist account. Not familiar with iNaturalist? That is OK! We will start the event with a basic tutorial on how to use it, and our field leaders can support you along the way. To conclude the event, you are invited to bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy while we work on identifying our observations together. We will have field guides available to help us in this quest, and you are invited to bring your own if you have them.
This event includes a moderate hike of approximately 2 miles at a slow pace. Backpacks are welcome, please leave strollers at home.

Please note: All events will follow current regional health safety guidelines. Please bring a mask – we will require masks to be worn indoors during this event (this includes in the bathrooms), regardless of vaccination status. Masks are not required while outdoors. Please practice good hand washing hygiene, and physical distancing when possible. If you do not feel well, please do not attend.Back To All Events
