Meet ONLINE using Zoom
Free, donations welcome
Ages 13 and up (youth under 13 welcome with parental supervision)
Would you like to step out of the “green blur” and learn to see the plants around you with a finer-tuned lens? In this class you have the opportunity to practice plant identification using keys and guides, learning the names and functions of plant structures along the way. You will be introduced to key species in our region’s landscape and will explore local plant communities and the special adaptations these plants use to survive in our mediterranean climate. Join local botany aficionado and California Naturalist, Heide Keeble, for a morning frolicking (virtually) among the flowers, shrubs, ferns, and oaks. This class will consist of a live multimedia presentation and some interactive time for practicing skills together and Q&A. It is ideal for beginners or anyone looking to brush up on the basics. You are invited to collect a plant sample (or two!) prior to class, to use for practicing identification skills.
*This class will be held online using the Zoom meeting platform. Once you register, you will be emailed the link and instructions on how to join the Zoom Meeting at the scheduled time. You can join this class using a computer, smartphone, or tablet – in your web browser or by downloading the Zoom application.
We are offering this class free of charge, but graciously accept donations which support our continued ability to offer our Education Programs to the community. Thank you!Back To All Events
