Pepperwood Update: COVID-19

A Message from Pepperwood Regarding COVID-19

In this unprecedented time of uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, we want to reach out to you to provide updates about Pepperwood’s response. As a trusted community and scientific resource, we are committed to following the recommendations of public health authorities and prioritizing the health and safety of our visitors, volunteers, staff, and supporters.

Given that Sonoma County has issued a “shelter in place” directive, Pepperwood is taking measures to support and protect our community from exposure to COVID-19. To that end, we are temporarily closing the Dwight Center for Conservation Science and Pepperwood Preserve, and cancelling or postponing all public programming, classes, events, and volunteer workdays through April 7th. We will continue to monitor the evolving circumstances and notify you as soon as is feasible of any changes to this situation.

We have asked our staff to work from home in the coming weeks to prioritize their well-being and reduce any potential risk of infection. To keep staff fully connected, we will continue to use email and virtual meeting technologies for both internal and external communications.

We want to take this opportunity to express our sincerest hope that you and your family remain safe and healthy. We urge you to follow the latest guidelines and to practice “social distancing” to limit the spread of the virus.  As we struggle through this challenging time, try to spend some time outside every day to enjoy the birds chirping, notice the sun reflected on the surface of a pond, feel the gentle breezes or the rain on your face, watch a hummingbird whiz by, and welcome new flowers in bloom. You’ll be glad you did!

Please continue to check our website for updates: In the meantime, we are thankful for your patience, understanding, and continuing support. Above all, we wish you and your family members good health and safety, as well as opportunities to find moments of joy throughout these challenging circumstances.

Lupines blooming throughout the preserve.
