Over 200 members of the Pepperwood family attended our Board’s third Sunset Celebration on June 2. The event honored Lieutenant Ed Hoener of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office for his outstanding service to Pepperwood as a leader at the Emergency Operations Center following the October 2017 Northern California wildfires.
The evening featured comments by Pepperwood Founder & Chairman Herb Dwight and President & CEO Dr. Lisa Micheli, and was emceed by Development Director Julie Bartice. Composer and pianist Nolan Gasser curated a fantastic musical experience as the sun set over our beautiful Sonoma County backdrop. The event netted over $200,000 to support Pepperwood’s fire science programming, every dollar of which will go towards developing a better understanding of how to reduce the risk of future wildfires.
Thank you so much for your incredible generosity and investment in science-based solutions to advance the health of Northern California’s land, water and wildlife!
Hear what long-time Pepperwood supporter and community leader Pam Chanter had to say about the event:
What a spectacular evening of world class music, hospitality and science, at the equally spectacular Pepperwood Preserve. A unique refuge where conservation science and education are conducted for local and global purposes. Their research focused on soil, water, flora, and fauna before and following the wildfires, will positively impact all of our futures.
