Register by May 1 for Living with Fire Symposium, May 7-9 at SSU

The deadline to register for the May 7-9 community symposium Living with Fire in California’s Coast Ranges at Sonoma State University has been extended to Tuesday, May 1st.

Pepperwood and our partners have been working on this event since late October with the goal of providing a large public forum for residents of the region to learn about the state of the science on both fire history and approaches to community resilience.

We are really excited about bringing national experts on fire in the West to help us raise the public awareness needed to heal and move forward with our recovery.

Our goal is to turn no one away for lack of funds, so a limited number of fee waivers are available through the event website (see below). Anyone impacted by the fires, students, and others who would not otherwise be able to attend, are encouraged to apply for one of these fee waivers.

Please share this event with anyone you think may be interested. We hope to see you there!

Pepperwood and our partners present a community symposium:

LIVING WITH FIRE SYMPOSIUM

Promoting Fire-Resilient Communities and Landscapes in an Era of Global Change

May 7-9, 2018
Sonoma State University

Registration costs $50/person for both days (includes lunch, refreshments, and parking). Please register at the event website by May 1, 2018. Should the cost of the symposium present a barrier, we encourage you to apply for a fee waiver through the event webpage. We are also seeking volunteers to help out at the event with a 4-hour shift in exchange for free admission. You can sign up for a volunteer shift here.

May 7 & 8 • will be devoted to presentations by subject experts, with question-and answer sessions and ample opportunity for audience participation during structured discussions. View the program on the event website.

May 9 • will feature a series of field trips to fire-affected communities and landscapes in Sonoma and Napa Counties—including one to Pepperwood. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Field trip registration is separate and costs $40 (includes lunch and transportation). Register for field trips here.

If you’re interested in becoming a sponsor, tabling at this event, or are looking for more information or on who to contact visit the event website.
