Pepperwood at 2016 California Naturalist Conference

Pepperwood’s Education Director Sandi Funke and super-Steward Wendy Herniman represented Pepperwood at the 2016 California Naturalist Conference in the San Bernardino Mountains September 9-11th. Sandi presented a poster on our TeenNat program that connects teen youth to conservation science, and Wendy presented on our phenology research—the study of the timing of plant life cycles—which is part of the California Phenology Project.

Pepperwood partnered with the Santa Rosa Junior College to pilot the state’s first UC California Naturalist training program in 2012. Certification courses are now available at over 30 locations throughout the state!
